Rape Culture is an environment in which rape is prevalent and in which sexual violence against women is normalised and excused in the media and popular culture. I grew up in the Caribbean. When most people around the world think of the what comes to their mind is beauty, vibrancy, delicious cuisine, sun, sea, infectious music and a chilled out vibe. While these things are true of the Caribbean and while I am forever proud to be a Caribbean woman, there is a dark and incredibly ugly side which we try our best to hide, but which needs to be it up in great big spot lights for the world to see in all its disgraceful glory!! I am from Trinidad, so I speak specifically with reference to Trinidad BUT it is not unique to this island, by any means.

So you think you are a bad mom?
When Yanice was 3 years old he spent 5 days in hospital. He hated every minute so as a treat and to cheer him up I took him into the capital city of Trinidad to experience the splendor of our carnival. My World Gone Mad
Today, the day before Ash Wednesday, in my beautiful, unique, cultural island of Trinidad and Tobago, is Carnival Tuesday. A celebration, not to be confused with any of the half-baked imitations, is a celebration of our freedom – freedom of the flesh, of the mind, body and soul. A celebration of our art forms, a… Continue reading My World Gone Mad

It was not until I started conducting interviews myself that I discovered they want you to say what it is… Continue reading This is Me
Fuck the school run
Today I have taken over doing the school run for the first time since Yelena was born. Bah Humbug! Am I the only one who absolutely hates the school run? It starts off with trying to get the kids ready on time without sky rocketing your blood pressure and threatening to sell them on eBay.… Continue reading Fuck the school run
10 Year Challenge
With all this hype on social media about showing photos of yourself 10 years apart, it got me feeling nostalgic. My life has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. November 2018 would have made it 10 years since I packed all my and my 2 year old son's shit into two suitcases and left… Continue reading 10 Year Challenge
I started writing this blog a few weeks ago but was waiting for my tummy to go down a bit so I can get a decent photo of my scar. But I need to face reality now, it's not happening so easily the third time round. I keep seeing these perfectly photogenic, neat, almost invisible… Continue reading C-Section Reality
So, unbelievably, people are actually questioning whether post-partum depression is a thing and we, the enlightened folk are having to defend its existence. Really? Something isn't right in the world when intelligence always has to argue with stupid. If you have never had a baby and you want to judge, please take several, uncomfortable seats… Continue reading PPD Awareness
